How long does an online MBA program typically take?

There are different options available for different circumstances. MBA programs offer more flexibility concerning the hours the student needs to be present in the “virtual classroom,” which makes it ideal for individuals who have full-time careers or other obligations and have limited room for additional time commitments. Under these circumstances, an MBA can be obtained on a part-time basis and be completed in 3-5 years. For those who have more time but cannot relocate, accelerated programs are available and can be completed in 12-18 months

Will I receive a less recognized or accepted degree if the coursework is completed online?

No. The coursework is not easier, it can be just as demanding and both structures lead to the exact same degree with the exact same amount of coursework. The only difference is the lack of face-to-face interactions. There are still interactions via phone, email and Skype that require accountability and are a great way to receive peer support and ask questions.

What are the eligibility requirements for Online MBA programs?

There are many schools with many different and specific requirements related to GPA and degrees obtained depending on the specialty of the MBA the student is pursing. There are some basic requirements however. Almost all US universities require a 4-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Most universities recommend a minimum of 2-3 years of relative work experience. However, some universities may be willing to waive this recommendation/requirement under certain circumstances. Good to high scores are usually expected on the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and TOEFL (if you’re a non-native English language speaker) but do not necessarily translate into admission or acceptance into the program.

How much does an MBA degree cost and how can I manage this expense?

The cost associated with completing an MBA program varies depending on the school, cost of housing (if needed), books and other miscellaneous necessities and can range from $67,000 up to $168,000. Nearly 75% of most students obtaining an MBA require financing to at least supplement some of these costs. For working individuals, some companies will offer reimbursement for some and very rarely, all of the cost if they keep a certain GPA requirement. There are also some scholarships available.
